Out of Time
By Jon Henshaw

Is it time yet?

Time can make you late or too early. It can undercook or overcook your food. It can give you stress or make you give up on something altogether.

We never seem to have enough time, and often wish we could have more. In our daily lives, we trade and invest our time in order to get just compensation. As we grow older we focus on how little time we have.

What a waste of time

We often succumb to the idea that we have plenty of time to spend with our family, and that our jobs desperately need our attention. As a result, we allow time to rob us of the things that matter most to us.

Even when we do have time to spend with our families, we often end up wasting it by sitting in front of the television. Relationships cannot survive in front of a television!

It's time to change

Get your time under control. Below are few suggestions to help you balance your time.

*Quit wearing a watch - Regardless of what you're thinking, you can do this and still be a responsible human being. It will help you focus more on the task at hand, give you a sense of freedom, and allow you to enjoy worthwhile encounters much longer.

*Quit what you're doing and go home! - Your work will wait, but your family won't. Your relationships will not survive if you are committed to spending most of your time at work, instead of with your family.

*Reevaluate your priorities - Ask yourself, "What is more important to me, work or family?" Spend at least a few hours with your family each night (not in front of the television).

*Make your time significant - Make time for you and your significant other at least two times a week. If you go to a movie, make sure you have at least an hour together after the movie. Going out on dates and spending time together is essential for maintaining a healthy relationship. Most importantly, this time is NOT flexible. Do NOT reschedule or compromise this time. This time should be considered sacred to your relationship.
