Don't Throw Those Roses Away!
By Michael Webb
Romantc@aol.com

Now that Valentine's Day has passed, there is a lull in the rose market. Unsold roses are offered really cheap (or found for free in the dumpster). Perhaps the bouquet you gave to (or received from) your sweetheart on February 14 has seen better days.

Rose petals can be used in a variety of romantic ways. Consider these options before you throw away the roses or pass up a cheap dozen.

If washed properly, rose petals are edible and can be used to top a variety of desserts from ice cream to chocolate cakes.

Use a handful of rose petals to create a trail for your beloved to follow. It can lead to a present or to you!

Surprise your sweetheart with a hot drawn bubble bath with petals resting on the mountains of foam.

Dry the petals and put them in a crystal dish. Add rose oil (found at craft stores) to amplify the scent.

Rose petals can be a very soft and romantic layering on your sheets. However, be mindful that if crushed, they will stain the sheets.
